Actonel 30 mg
Actonel (Risedronate Sodium)

Actonel is a medicine used to treat or prevent osteoporosis (thin, weak bones) in women after menopause. It is also used to treat bone loss in men. Actonel is also used to prevent or treat osteoporosis caused by treatment with corticosteroid medications (such as prednisone) and to treat Paget’s disease (a painful condition that weakens and deforms the bones) in men and women.

Actonel can cause irritation of your stomach and problems with your esophagus (the tube that connects your mouth and stomach). Actonel can lower your blood calcium levels. If you have low blood calcium levels before you start taking Actonel, it can get worse during treatment. Tell your doctor right away if you experience spasms, twitches, or cramps in your muscles; or numbness or tingling in your fingers, toes, or around your mouth as these can be symptoms of low calcium levels. Your doctor may prescribe calcium and vitamin D to help prevent low calcium levels while you are taking Actonel. Actonel can cause severe jaw bone problems. Your doctor should examine your mouth before you start Actonel. Your doctor may tell you to see your dentist before you start Actonel. It is important that you practice good mouth care during treatment with Actonel. Also, Actonel can cause bone, joint, or muscle pain or unusual fractures in your thigh bone. Tell your doctor right away if you develop pain in your hip, groin, or thigh.
